It's been five months since I last wrote a post. Not that I don't think about it. I do. It's just the actual sitting down to write and create the content once a week or bi-weekly that is so hard. During the last five months, I've thought about the best way to share my work without overwhelming you or me. What works best for me is to post once a month. I hope you'll join me!
The last post was in October; It's now March. Hmmmmmmmm. Let's start in Florida. I took a nice break before going into the holiday season this year. I'm always up for a road trip and had the time, so Hamish and I accompanied my stepdad and his two dogs to Florida. We had a very leisurely four-day drive. I worked remotely and caught up on a few podcasts as we headed south. I took a lot of "drive-bys" (shooting with my cell out of the passenger side window).
We arrived in Florida on Friday, and Sunday; I was back in the car driving across the state. Fort Pierce to St Petersburg is a 3-hour ride straight across. Steve was flying in, and we would hang out with some of our favorite people and check out St.Pete. I was riding solo, so there were no drive-bys. I did stop to get this shot of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, though.

Once I got to our friend's place and ditched the car and my bags, we were off and running! Our first stop was the pier. The pier was not what I had expected.
The Murals of St. Pete
I had only been to St. Pete once before this trip. We spent most of our free time at Fort De Soto the last time we visited and didn't really go into the city. How happy am I that we spent two days galavanting in the city this time around?
St. Petersburg's thriving arts and culture scene sets it apart from other cities in Florida. This amazing little city has numerous museums, galleries, and theaters showcasing everything from contemporary art to classical music.
St. Petersburg is well-known for its vibrant and colorful street art scene, with murals and public art installations adorning buildings and walls throughout the city, including back alleys.
One of the best-known areas for murals in St. Petersburg is the Central Arts District, which is home to dozens of vibrant murals and street art installations. The area is home to a number of galleries and art studios. The murals in St. Petersburg are a testament to the city's vibrant cultural scene and its commitment to supporting the arts.
Museums
One of the most well-known museums in St. Petersburg is the Salvador Dalà Museum. This beautiful museum is dedicated to the life and works of the famous Spanish surrealist painter. It has the most extensive collection of Dali's art outside of Europe. The collection includes paintings, sculptures, and photographs. The building itself is a work of art!
The James Museum is another fascinating museum in St. Petersburg that is definitely worth a visit. The museum is dedicated to the art and culture of the American West, showcasing a stunning collection of paintings, sculptures, and other artworks that celebrate the region's history and heritage.
There is so much art! We were only there for two days but fit a lot in. The restaurants! I didn't write about the resturants! I guess that'll be for my next trip! I need another two days to gallivant in St. Petersburg!
I love getting away, but it is so sweet to return home!
