statement
It's the Hudson River and the overall landscapes of its surroundings that motivate me. The Hudson River Valley represents historic and ecological values; moments are present to be photographed. But rather than focusing on its literal representation, I aim to distill its spirit, the way its currents shimmer under the morning sun, the way shadows of the clouds move over the mountains.
These fleeting moments inspire my work, which is ephemeral and impossible to replicate. They are the foundation for the abstract and surreal images that form my body of work.
The abstract and surreal allow us to contemplate landscapes from a different perspective. We connect with the essence of a place rather than just its beauty. A sunset is no longer just an image of the sky but an exploration of light, color, and emotion. A river in flow becomes a study in rhythm, impermanence, and grandeur.
The sublime deepen this connection. It reminds us of our place within nature, small and significant at once, and asks us to consider the relationship between beauty, power, and impermanence. This approach, for me, is very personal. This is a way for me to pay homage to landscapes that have inspired me throughout my life and, at the same time, present the viewer with an opportunity to see them in a new light.
